CLT Associates comprises Gary Flomenhoft and Andrew Paul. Since February 2015 a team (incorporating a multi-national solicitor firm, banks and a community housing provider) has been focused on bringing the Community Land Trust (CLT) benefits to the Australian property market, as the model has been very successful in the US since the 1980’s and in the UK since 2007. In particular, this mechanism allows for ongoing housing affordability.
CLT Associates works with not-for-profit organisations to establish CLTs in their community.
Gary has a master’s degree in public policy and ecological economics. He was a Research Fellow at the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics at the University of Vermont for 12 years, from 2002-2013.
Whilst living in Burlington, Vermont he was a 10 year, two time resident of Champlain Housing Trust. (Gary is currently a PhD student at UQ focusing on communal mineral rights at the Sustainable Minerals Institute). He is an academic writer on land as a false commodity, and a strong CLT advocate.
Andrew brings significant expertise from across the real estate, development and construction industries. He has been the Principal of a not-for-profit real estate agency, a Development and Sales Manager for a significant developer, and a director of two successful building franchises. For several years, he was a board member of a dynamic social and affordable Housing Provider, and is dedicated to the ongoing improvement, growth and well-being of the community.
Andrew holds the following licenses and qualifications:
